Suspected fracture of the pelvic ring following high-energy trauma
Contraindications

Low-energy trauma

Lateral compression

Prior

Gently assess the stability of the pelvic ring

Assess femoral pulses and gross motor/sensory function in the legs

Procedure
-
Adduct the legs and rotate them inwards
-
Place the girdle under the patient’s back minimizing patient movement

Center the girdle over the major trochanter
-
Apply concentric force and lock the girdle

Reassess femoral pulses and gross motor/sensory function in the legs
