Checklists-D

Diagnostic errors stem from insufficient data acquisition, insufficient knowledge and insufficient data interpretation. Checklists may decrease the risk of insufficient data acquistion.  Checklists may also decrease the risk of premature closure, namely prematurely interrupting the process of considering reasonable diagnostic alternatives after one plausible diagnosis has been identified.

The document below provides checklists for data acquisition and key time-sensitive conditions to consider based on the patient’s presenting problem.
